Building Department

The Building Department staff works with contractors, residents, and their representatives in support of residents’ applications for development and/or building permits, variances and/or alternative building standards. They also ensure compliance with federal, state, county and Town of Jupiter Island building codes, laws and policies related to construction, planning and zoning, setbacks, code enforcement and other building-related activities.

Engineering

The Town Engineer serves works with engineering consultants, contractors, residents, and their representatives in support of engineering and technically related initiatives. Primary areas of review are Civil Engineering projects including roadway, drainage, erosion control and utility infrastructure. Additionally, the Town Engineer provides development review for residents’ applications for development and/or building permits. The Town Engineer assists other departments in reviewing and selection of technical projects.

Public Works

Public Works crews are responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all Town vehicles and buildings on the island, the maintenance and beautification of Town-owned green space, and road and sidewalk maintenance. Department personnel also perform residential sanitation and trash removal services as well as landscape debris pickup and removal. South Martin Regional Utility (SMRU) is proud to serve the communities of Hobe Sound and the Town of Jupiter Island, FL as the sole source supplier of municipal drinking water, municipal wastewater treatment and reclaimed water.
