Whitney D. Pidot

Mayor

Mr. Pidot has been coming to Jupiter Island with his family since the 1970’s. He has extensive experience in municipal government and served for 16 years as the mayor of his village in Locust Valley, NY.  He is a retired corporate attorney, having been the global managing partner of the international law firm of Shearman & Sterling, where he practiced for 35 years.  He is currently the chairman/CEO of the Goelet Company and has previously served on the boards of various other private and public corporations and a bank.  He also served as the vice chairman of a hospital and on the executive committees of a biotech educational research facility and an international mental health organization.  He is a graduate of Harvard College and has MBA and JD degrees from Columbia University

Elisabeth “Betsy” Allen

Vice Mayor

Elisabeth “Betsy” Allen was first appointed by the Town Commission in May 2012 to fulfill the unexpired term of Anne O’Laughlin Scott, who was elected the District 3 Martin County Commissioner.  In March 2013, Mrs. Allen was reelected without opposition for a two-year term through March 2015.  She was elected Vice Mayor in April 2013.

 

Mrs. Allen has been a Jupiter Island resident since the late 1990s.  She has a wealth of executive board and administrative experience including five years as President of the Board of Trustees of Far Hills Country Day School; six years as Chairman and Director of the Garden Club of America Zone IV; and six years as President of the Tarratine Club of Dark Harbor, Maine.  She also served for four years on the Executive Committee of the Board of the Jupiter Island Club.

Maura Collins

Commissioner

Mrs. Collins was appointed by the Town Commission to fulfill the term of Commissioner Barbara Carr, who resigned in April 2014 due to health challenges.  Mrs. Collins was sworn in as a Town Commissioner on June 19 to fill the interim through the next Town Election in March 2015.

 

Mrs. Collins has been a resident of Jupiter Island since 1998.  She is a graduate of Marymount College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science.  She is a former member of the Town Councils of Bow Mar, Colorado and Darien, Connecticut.

Peter Conze

Commissioner

Peter Conze was elected a Town Commissioner in March 2015 to serve a four-year term through March 2019.  Mr. Conze has been a resident of Jupiter Island since 2007.

 

Mr. Conze’s career in business was primarily in banking and mining, initially in New York, with overseas assignments in London and Lima, Peru. Subsequently, he held senior banking positions in New York, Pittsburgh and Boston.   Mr. Conze also has significant experience in working with volunteer organizations. From 2000-2002, while living in Providence, Rhode Island, he was a board member of the College Hill Neighborhood Association. Once he moved to Hobe Sound, he joined board of directors of The Guardians of Martin County, and has served as its President since 2010.

 

Mr. Conze is a graduate of Yale University with a B.A. in history, and earned both B.A. Honours and M.A. degrees in economics, from Cambridge University.

Barry Hall

Commissioner

Commissioner Barry Hall was elected without opposition to a two-year term on the Town Commission in March 2015. He has been a permanent resident on Jupiter Island for 18 years. Mr. Hall was previously the President of the Hobe Sound Community Chest; Commodore of the Hobe Sound Yacht Club; and Vice President of the Jupiter Island Club. He also served on the Town’s Electrical Utility Undergrounding Committee and is currently the Chair of the Town’s Finance Advisory Committee.

 

Mr. Hall received his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and his Master’s in Public Affairs from Princeton University.  Since then, he has been a Peace Corps Volunteer in Africa, a trustee of Groton School, and continues to be a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He also is a Trustee of the African Wildlife Foundation and Technoserve, two Washington-based organizations involved with conservation and poverty alleviation.

 

He spent his career with JP Morgan and  Morgan Stanley in the U.S., the U.K. and Asia. He became a Managing Director and President of Morgan Stanley in both Japan and India.
